Fertility and milk production on commercial dairy farms with customized lactation lengths

چکیده

Drying-off, calving, and start of lactation are critical transition events for a dairy cow. As consequence, most animal health issues occur during these periods. By extending the voluntary waiting period first insemination after calving interval (CInt) can be extended, with possible positive effects fertility health. Some cows might better suited an extended CInt than others, due to differences in milk yield level, persistency, or status, which would justify customized based on individual cow characteristics. This study aims investigate 13 farms CInt, respect service (CFSI), accomplished services per conception (SC), rate at artificial (CR1AI), peak yield, 305-d effective yield. In total, 4,858 complete lactations Holstein Friesian between 2014 2019 from were grouped by parity (1 2+) CFSI (CFSI class; CFSI-1 < 84; 84 ? Factors influencing heifer survival and fertility on commercial dairy farms.

The average dairy cow survives only three lactations, reducing the availability of replacement heifers. Prenatal losses occur due to early embryonic mortality (about 40%), later embryo loss (up to 20% in high-yielding herds) or abortion (about 5%). A recent survey of 19 UK herds showed that 7.9% of calves were born dead and 3.4% died within 1 month. During the rearing phase, 6.7% of animals wer...

Application of lactation models on dairy cow farms

An important branch of the modern global economy is food production. Our focus is milk production on dairy farms, the period in which cows produce milk (lactation) and the quantity of milk produced. Special attention will be given to the time-dependent function that describes the quantity of the milk produced over a lactation period. The respective graph is known as the lactation curve and is o...

Rumen-protected Bypass Fat for Dairy Ewe Commercial Milk Production

The effects of fat supplementation and weaning system on commercial milk yield and milk composition were determined on 129 East Friesian crossbred ewes. Prior to lambing, ewes were randomly assigned to one of two weaning systems. The DY1 system involved weaning of ewes from their lambs within 24 to 36 hr post-partum and then twice-daily machine milking. In the MIX system, ewes had access to the...

Estimation of Economic Values for Fertility, Stillbirth and Milk Production Traits in Iranian Holstein Dairy Cows

The objective of present study was to derive the economic values for number of inseminations to conception, calving interval, milk yield and stillbirth, using economic data of 10 Iranian Holstein herds. The economic values were derived by using the profit function methods and differentiating a profit equation with respect to the traits of interest. The cow fertility costs herd amortization or r...

Constraints of Milk Production: A Study on Cooperative and Non-cooperative Dairy Farms in West Bengal

The constraints that cooperative and non-cooperative dairy farms face in expanding milk production have been reported based on a field study on some cooperative and non-cooperative dairy farms in the state of West Bengal. The study has shown that non-cooperative farms face major constraints and high severity compared with cooperative farms in expanding milk production. Also important is that mo...
